Why the Brief Vacation?

Mon Sep 20, 2004 at 12:29:17 PM PDT

I know it's a little late to mention this, but I realized today that I hadn't noticed anything in the papers about Bush's usual month-long vacation in August.  After some brief research into McClellan's briefings that month, I found that he did go there, but only for six days, the 19th through the 25th.  For the rest of the month, it seems he kept himself pretty busy with campaign events throughout the country.

Why the brief vacation this year?  I understand that the man likes to give himself and his family a month of downtime every August.  It's good for the soul to leave the rat race when you can.  Cut underbrush.  Do honest work.  Until this year, his presence on that ranch was trustworthy and steadfast, come hell or high water.  He stayed the course, and he racked up a record number of Presidential vacation days.

What gives?  Why the change in priorities?  He's never before let the pressures of his office disturb his rest.  Campaigning has turned him into a virtual workaholic!  Guarding our safety in August 2001 and waging war on evildoers in the following two years must not have been nearly as demanding as ramping up to the RNC this year.  I hope he gets a break soon...

O'Reilly skeptical about Bush and Iraq

Check it out.

Bill O'Reilly says he was wrong to support the Bush administration's weapons claims, and that he is now skeptical of the whole administration.  No joke.  The title of the entry on Tom Tomorrow's blog was "Apparently it is snowing in Hell today."
